Apotheosis – Elevation to the Status of a God is one of the longest manhua I’ve ever read. It’s so extensive that I had to pause my reading at chapter 600. Still, I enjoy the story and its blend of fascinating elements. I believe the narrative foundation is strong enough to keep readers engaged.

Manhua has a subtle and distinctive touch that sets it apart from Japanese and Korean works: long dialogues. The biggest challenge is to maintain narrative continuity while keeping the audience entertained—something this story accomplishes flawlessly.

Luo Zheng is now a slave, bound by the chains of those stronger than him. His family's fall has crushed him, and there's no escape. The only reason he keeps going is his sister—and vengeance. Vengeance is his sole driving force. He must destroy them all. A hidden text left by his father contains a power that will change everything.

This power is so transcendent that it sets the story in motion, pushing the protagonist to confront the world. A kind of ascension occurs—so profound and well-crafted that it propels the plot forward with remarkable force. As this transformation unfolds, you might think the story is nearing its end—but it merely shifts into a new rhythm.

What I admire most is Luo Zheng’s character. His willpower allows him to move far beyond his own expectations or desires. It’s remarkable, intriguing, and awe-inspiring. So extraordinary, in fact, that it captivates you. People may find him strange, but ultimately, he becomes a source of inspiration. As the battles he faces grow more intense, he evolves. That evolution becomes the very essence of his growth—something few literary stories truly master.

I won’t deny that long stories are hard to follow, but with genuine interest, you eventually adapt. I find it fascinating that stories like this one reach global popularity and maintain such wide appeal. Interestingly, Tales of Demons and Gods is mentioned several times within this manhua (another very popular manhua).

One of the most captivating aspects is that the story’s universe is divided into multiple worlds. As Luo Zheng’s power grows, the current world ejects him into a higher one—where he must start from scratch. It’s incredibly dramatic. When he ascends, he’s once again treated like a slave—but quickly rewrites his story. Through sheer strength, he’s able to reshape everything. And that “everything” rests in his hands.

There’s a vast number of characters, which makes remembering names difficult. This is a drawback—but also interesting, since many are not essential to the plot. That, to me, is a clever narrative choice.
